Cody Ellis signed with the MightyMite Sydney Kings in August 2013, but did not join his teammates until December as he was completing his college commitments.
After having a short period to adjust to his new home and familiarize himself with his new team, Ellis made an immediate impact for the Kings on January 3 against Cairns, scoring nine points and grabbing five rebounds on debut.
Ellis backed up his impressive debut with a season high 13 point performance the following game against Adelaide.
He continued his impressive play for the remainder of the season, completing his rookie campaign by averaging 5.1 points and 3.1 rebounds in 19 minutes per game.
Born in Perth, Ellis left his hometown in 2007 to attend the Australian Institute of Sport. During his time there, Ellis led the AIS to the 2008 Southeast Australian Basketball League finals. Ellis also represented Australia at the junior level on numerous occasions, highlighted by a silver medal at the 2007 Oceania Tournament.
In 2009, Cody made the U-19 Australian Emus squad and competed at the FIBA World Championships, finishing the tournament as the Emus' second leading scorer.
Ellis left the AIS in 2009 to attend college at St. Louis University in the United States. After a successful four year career at St. Louis, Ellis graduated in 2013 with a Communications degree. Cody ended his career for the Billikens as one of only 27 1,000 point scorers in school history, while also ranking sixth all-time in made three pointers.
He is the son of Perth Wildcats' legend Mike Ellis, who was a dominant figure in the 1990s.
Cody currently resides in Sydney with his American partner Lauren and young son Chase.
