Matt McQuade has been a Sydney Kings season ticket holder since the team was born in 1988 and he has missed just one Kings’ home game - due to being in hospital - and seen a number of road games in the past 26 years. He has been involved with basketball in Sydney since 1979 and was also a long-time fan of both the City of Sydney Astronauts and the Sydney Supersonics. He is currently a media consultant to the Sydney Kings, was previously the Sydney Kings' Media and Communications Manager, and in more than 15 years of writing about the sport for Pro Basketball Today, the National Basketball League and Basketball Australia, he earned a reputation as one of Australia’s best basketball writers, well respected at every level throughout the league for his insight, knowledge, and love of the history of the game. He appeared regularly on Melbourne radio station SEN between 2010 and 2012 and on Sydney radio station 2GB in 2013, and in 2008 he was recognised for his outstanding contribution to the Kings with the Sydney Kings’ Coaches Award, presented to him by Kings’ super-coach Brian Goorjian. He is also responsible for the extensive Kings' History section on the Sydney Kings website and he is currently writing a book on the history of the Sydney Kings – he is as passionate about the sport today as he was when he first discovered it in 1979. This will be Matt's fourth season as the play by play commentator for Sydney Kings' Radio.
Bruce Bolden is regarded as one of the greatest players in National Basketball League history. The product of Flint, Michigan and graduate of Boise State University in the United States arrived in Australia in 1985 to play in the second-tier SEABL competition with Gippsland, and after two seasons there joined the Eastside Melbourne Spectres in the National Basketball League under head coach Brian Goorjian in 1987. It was the start of an outstanding NBL career that saw him spend two excellent seasons with the Westside Melbourne Saints, win the 1992 NBL Grand Final Series Most Valuable Player as a member of the league champion South East Melbourne Magic – the award presented to him by none other than NBA Commissioner David Stern – have his number retired by the West Sydney Razorbacks and still feature in the all-time top ten in a number of statistical categories for the Sydney Kings, for whom he played with great distinction from 1995 to 1998. He’s also been an assistant coach with the Wollongong Hawks and is a regular coach of junior basketball, imparting his vast knowledge and experience to the new blood coming through in Australia. A highly astute analyst, he joined Matt McQuade for the first Sydney Kings Radio broadcasts in the 2007/08 campaign, calling every home game for the legendary squad that went 27-3 in the regular season and took the Melbourne Tigers to a fifth game in the Grand Final, and he will once again provide in-depth commentary of the game for listeners.
